Love

In a world quite modern, where all seemed so plain,
A young boy was born, with dreams to attain.
The first child in a family so tight,
But his path was rocky, not always bright.

Not so great, not so smart, he tried and he tried,
Yet with each attempt, his failures implied.
A dream in his heart, so big and so grand,
Was crushed by the people, their harsh reprimand.

At first, he was hopeful, he didn’t give in,
But slowly his dream was shattered within.
The years chipped away, breaking piece after piece,
Until college came, and his joy did cease.

Depression took hold, his grades fell so low,
He looked like a ghost, with no life’s glow.
No brightness, no cheer, just a shell of a man,
Wandering through days, without any plan.

Then one day by chance, a girl did appear,
With a smile so warm, and a voice so clear.
She spoke to him first, a kind-hearted try,
But he turned away, with a vacant eye.

Persistent she was, she would not desist,
For a whole year, she continued to insist.
A friend asked her why she would even care,
She replied with a passion, and a hopeful glare.

“He has potential, a spark within,
I don’t know his past, or where to begin,
But he’s like a sword, so sharp yet so dull,
With the right touch, he could be whole.”

She tried and she tried, her hope near the brink,
Then one day he spoke, causing her heart to sink.
“Why are you doing this?” he asked, so lost,
She smiled with love, despite the cost.

“I was like you once, sad and alone,
But someone helped me, and I found my own.
I don’t want you to feel lost and in pain,
Together we’ll find your dream once again.”

They talked and they talked, from dawn until night,
He spoke just a bit, but it was a delight.
She learned of his past, and his broken dream,
And she worked to restore his self-esteem.

We never knew what his dream could be,
A teacher, a painter, or something unseen.
But step by step, she led him with care,
To therapy sessions, though he wasn’t aware.

“Why?” he wondered, with confusion so vast,
Why would she care, about him and his past?
But never he asked, never he knew,
The reason she stayed, and saw it through.

Time passed quickly, and he graduated first,
He aimed for his dream, with a hopeful thirst.
Though their talks grew sparse, and distance increased,
He focused on teaching, his passion released.

Years rolled by, and they barely spoke,
Until her graduation, where hope awoke.
She walked the stage, received her degree,
And then saw a face, that made her heart plea.

She chased after him, her heart in a race,
She was right, it was him, the familiar face.
In the place they had met, just a different year,
He knelt down before her, without any fear.

“Sorry for the wait,” he said with a plea,
“You gave me purpose, you set me free.
Without you, I would have jumped into the night,
You cured my soul, brought me back to the light.”

“Will you marry me? Grow old by my side?
Live together, with hearts open wide?”
With tears in her eyes, she answered, “Yes,”
And in his arms, she felt truly blessed.

The feeling she had, wasn’t mere curiosity,
But love at first sight, a serendipity.
Some may say it’s strange, or just a dream,
But love knows no bounds, no matter how it may seem.
